New Location for Holiday Portraits!

•October 26, 2008 • Leave a Comment

It occurred to me the other day that there is another fantastic location for holiday portraits in NW Portland – and that’s Jamison Square!  Jamison Square provides a great location for many different backdrops, such as a huge Christmas Tree, Giant “Presents”, and don’t forget the steps of the fountain!

In response to the amazing amount of portraits we’ve booked for our Autumn Portrait Special, we’ve decided to open up one more weekend and shoot at Jamison Square.  Prints will be delivered in time for Christmas!

Date:  December 6th & 7th ONLY

This package includes 45 minutes of photography at Jamison Square, a private online gallery of images from which to choose your prints, and a free 8×10 of your choice.  $49.

Online galleries will be posted by December 12th, and prints will be delivered within 10 days of your order.

These sessions WILL go quickly, so contact Amy today to get your time reserved!

Fall Color Family Portraits

Though there is not a TON of color out there yet, there’s enough to have some fun with family portraits!  I had a ball this weekend with two different families ~ both with the cutest little babies, both under 6 months old!

Who is your wedding coordinator?

•September 25, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I know what you’re thinking – you think you don’t have room in your budget for a wedding planner, right?  And it’s true, they’re not for everyone.  But for most, I have to say, I think they are truly important.

Many brides I talk to wonder if hiring a wedding planner is just an extravagance on their part.  And with everything going on with the economy, we all have to be mindful of how we’re spending our money.  But more often than not, when we shoot weddings without a planner involved, we notice a much-higher stress level than a bride who has hired one.

The other thing I always notice with brides who do not hire a planner is that there is money spent on items for their wedding day that either could have been found or rented for much cheaper than what they paid.  Things that go wrong on the wedding day have to be handled by the bride, and this takes her away from having her hair, makeup, and photos taken, and she’s usually NOT happy about it!  With a coordinator on site, you can give him/her the gist of the problem, and watch them walk away and handle it for you.  A HUGE stress-reducer on your wedding day!

Planning a wedding takes so much organization, and this is what I appreciate about most of the planners I’ve worked with.  I’ve even seen some that show up with a care package packed with clear nail polish, double-sided tape, needles & thread, even deodorant!  And I’ve seen ALL of these things put to use in an emergency!

Before you dismiss the idea of hiring a planner for your wedding day, consider these things;

1. How much do you value your time?  Thinking about planning a wedding is a lot different than actually executing it.  You won’t believe how much time you’ll spend on tiny details for your wedding.

2. Do you know the best vendors in town?  While you may have a connection to the least expensive or most expensive – you can’t really base your decisions just on price, right?  A coordinator can take into account exactly what you’re looking for, and supply a list of vendors for you to choose from within your parameters.  Another HUGE time-saver!

3. Will you have time to meet all your vendors in person?  A coordinator can give you an idea of RELIABLE, professional vendors such as photographers, videographers, rental companies, invitation designers, florists, DJs, venues, caterers, bakers, and dress shops that fit your budget and personality.  They have met and visited every vendor’s shop already, and know them to be worthy of recommendation.

4. Have you thought about the money that a coordinator can SAVE for you?  If you take into account the expertise that an experienced coordinator has, he/she will be able to recommend how to get the best value on everything you need for your wedding.  By the time you’re done, the money that you paid your coordinator will have saved you money on other items, and saved you the stress involved in coordinating all of it yourself.

5. Did you know that you don’t have to hire a coordinator to plan your entire wedding?  Every coordinator I know offers packages for different types of help.  Whether you want a “Full-Service” planner to help you from day-one through the time you leave your reception, or just someone to show up at your rehearsal and wedding day to run the show for you, there’s something for you.

Your wedding day should be filled with excitement, nerves, romance, and craziness in a GOOD way.  Don’t raise your blood pressure by trying to do it all yourself!

Here are some coordinators that I’ve worked with at many weddings.  I really, truly think they’re the best in Portland, not only because of their expertise but also because they keep things light and fun, and will completely PAMPER you on your wedding day.  I just think that’s how it should be!
